Just hours after the Clippers announced that Paul George would be leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, it was revealed that the nine-time All-Star had agreed to a four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. And the contract is the highest value contract George has failed to secure from the Clippers. George appears to be joining new All-Star teammates Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in what could be Philadelphia’s best chance to reach the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2001. The Clippers said, “We had a reasonable contract and months of negotiations with Paul, but still parted ways due to significant differences between the two parties, and we understand and respect Paul’s decision.” Fans had thought there was still a chance that George and the Clippers could make something happen, but the team made it clear that those hopes have been dashed.
Paul is exceptionally well endowed physically, standing close to 208cm tall with 211cm arms. Can run and jump. Extremely good single defence, top of the league. Overall, one of the best perimeter defence in the league. Has vision, very pragmatic, willing to pass. Excellent on the fast break. Has a spot-up three. But average ball-handling ability, average speed, average high jumper and breakout ability.
